Extended care for your recovery.

The Blanchard Institute’s gender-specific recovery residences provide a structured environment where residents can feel safe and supported by their peers while attending outpatient treatment.

Unlike traditional sober living homes, our recovery residences are an extended care program that holds each resident accountable to their treatment and recovery. For success in extended care, these obligations are required while living in our recovery residences:

  • Keep a positive attitude and consistently take inventory of your own actions and feelings.
  • Show up on time and prepared to actively participate with your peers and Staff.
  • Attend all required meetings, events, activities, and clinical sessions.
  • Maintain appropriate hygiene and appropriate dress to be an active member of the community.
  • Be respectful to housemates, neighbors, peers, and the larger Charlotte community.
  • Maintain the anonymity and any privileged information you receive from your housemates.
  • Attend and become actively engaged in a community recovery support group.
  • Find and work regularly with a sponsor or equivalent.

Benefits of Extended Care

Accountability
A 24/7 structured environment helps hold residents accountable for their actions, making it easier for them to stay sober and learn new healthy daily habits.

Quality Time to Heal
Extended care focuses on reinforcing what is learned in treatment and provides further support in early recovery to reduce the risk of relapse. It also gives residents space to repair familial relationships that may have suffered as a result of their substance use.

Community
Participation in recovery communities provides a framework for maintaining a sober lifestyle. Sharing experiences, thoughts and feelings related to recovery topics can promote valuable support and fellowship amongst peers.
