Women’s Drug And Alcohol Treatment Program
The Blanchard Institute: A Trauma-Informed Facility
The Blanchard Institute understands that men and women experience recovery differently. That is why we apply gender-sensitive and gender-specific treatment modalities to women who come to our facility and provide them with purposeful and thoughtful programming
Trauma is one of the most common causes of addiction or mental illness in men and women both. The Blanchard Institute goes to great lengths every day to maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all of our clients.
Additionally, all of our masters level therapists are trained in trauma treatment. They have years of experience delivering compassionate treatment to women who are suffering from the lingering effects of life-altering trauma. In short, women with substance use disorders and their families can rest assured that every client that walks into our facility is shielded at all times by events that could trigger an adverse reaction. This is what our clients deserve and the only way the fundamental traumas can be addressed.
Levels of Care at Our North Carolina Women’s Addiction Treatment & Mental Illness Center
To us, the concept of ‘meeting the client where they’re at’ means giving them a level of care that’s appropriate to their mental, physical, and emotional situation. After a detailed initial assessment, we place each of our women client’s into one of the following four levels of care:
- Partial Hospitalization Program
- Intensive Outpatient or IOP
- Outpatient Program
- Recovery Management
We’ll give a brief description of these in the following sections:
Day Treatment or PHP
Our Day Treatment provides full clinical support for women five days a week. Day Treatment sessions begin at 8:45 a.m. and continue until 4 pm. During this time, our highly-trained, sensitive team will help you through programming that entails groups with all females. This helps build female bonding and access to more deeply personal groups where sharing is comfortable and honest.
The goal of our Day Treatment Program is to combat our clients’ substance use and mental health conditions head on and guide them toward long term recovery and a happier life. We accomplish this by employing an individualized mixture of the following treatment protocols:
- Biosound and Biofeedback
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Recovery Yoga
- Life Skills Training
- Creative Art Therapy
As is the case with IOP, our Day Treatment consists of co-ed educational sessions and gender-specific process groups.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) was designed to provide educational materials and support to women suffering from substance use disorder and/or co-occurring mental health issues. Typically, IOP consists of approximately 30-40 treatment sessions stretched out over from 8-10 weeks.
While enrolled in IOP, women clients are expected to create individual goals, as well as to adhere to program requirements and follow clinical recommendations. During their time in IOP, women will attend individualized and group therapy sessions. And while men and women are not completely segregated at our facility, there are gender-specific process groups where women can discuss their concerns freely.
This program is designed to help our women clients step down from Intensive Outpatient as seamlessly as possible. It meets twice a week and is designed to teach new recovery skills as clients transition back into the outside world.
Recovery Management Program
Blanchard’s Recovery Management Program helps our women clients gradually return to the joys and difficulties inherent to a sober life. Recovery management begins after a client has finished a primary treatment program and began implementing a personalized Relapse Prevention Program. During their time in Recovery Management, clients continue to have access to clinical and group support after their primary treatment.
