The Blanchard Institute recently expanded treatment options at its Lake Norman facility. The brand new evening intensive outpatient program (IOP) is building on the success of other Blanchard programs. “Our modalities are highly successful because we use evidence-based treatment,” says Jennifer Harris, CADC, who manages the new program.

Founder and CEO Ward Blanchard wanted The Blanchard Institute to be much more than just another addiction clinic. “Right from the start, we wanted it to be a community resource, a teaching site, and general wellness center as well,” he says. “We’re heavily family-oriented. Blanchard offers more than just a treatment experience—it’s a relationship. Patients are with us for several months and families are required to participate as much as the identified patient. With us, family involvement is more like family restructuring or realignment.”
Blanchard offers a variety of flexible treatment options that can accommodate your individual needs. Our gender-specific continuum of care includes a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), regular outpatient treatment, recovery management (RM), and a withdrawal management program. We provide the structure, support, and education clients and their families need for long-term recovery.
The Blanchard Institute also offers two gender-specific recovery residences providing extended care in a structured environment where residents can feel safe and supported by their peers while attending outpatient treatment.
Our recovery residence for women is called Bettie’s House. The residence was named after the mother of our founder and CEO, Ward Blanchard, since she was an integral part in supporting his journey to recovery.
The men’s recovery residence, Austin’s House is named after a survivor of the the horrific school shooting at Columbine High School in 1999. The late Austin Eubanks and Ward Blanchard became close friends through their personal and professional journeys. Austin envisioned a society with people who didn’t medicate their pain with substances and unhealthy coping behaviors, and he devoted his life to helping others so this dream could become a reality.
