A native of Georgia, Ryan graduated with honors from UGA in 2003 and began his career with a large architecture and planning firm in Atlanta. After struggling with alcohol addiction for more than a decade, he completed residential treatment in 2012 and then moved to Asheville, NC to continue his personal recovery at a structured continuing care program.
Ryan began working in the behavioral health field in 2013, eventually co-owning a 30-bed intensive sober-living program for young men in Asheville, NC. It was through this work that he discovered a lasting passion for helping others in early recovery. Ryan joined The Blanchard Institute team in July of 2023 as Director of Business Development and brings 10 years’ experience in Business Development/Marketing, Admissions, and sober living/continuing care to the Blanchard team. Ryan is a former board member and Treasurer of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – North Carolina Chapter, former board member/ President of NCARR, the NC chapter of the National Association of Recovery Residences and facilitates the NC Professional Liaison Association (PLA) listserv.
Ryan lives in Charlotte, NC and takes an active role in the local and regional recovery communities. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking (and eating), working out, back-packing, biking, hiking, and spending time with friends and his miniature dachshund Finn.
